Literature Text

Each time I open the drawer
I'm forced to relive my first time
Playing the skin game
In the dim light
I see the silver knives, black handles
Only the sharpest for me
And I am twelve again
Testing the sharpness against my thumb
A deep clean cut in the bend
My first time yields no blood
Only pain
Unbearable, I swore I'd never do it again
Until three years later
Cut from varsity volleyball
And seperated from my friends
Only the scissors in my bedroom understood
But that is a different story
I wrote this last night, though it's been bothering me for a while.

Wow. A lot has been said..
I guess I can just say I don't really like to read poetry.

I am just too opinionated about poetry to be able to enjoy it, but your's slipped under the radar.

I very much like this it's simple, and as a lot have said, it hits close to home..
but uh.. the first time anything happened like that was when I put my thumb on the cigarette lighter in the car... OW!

But yeah.
I must say, great poem. :salute:
